Lantern AI Addendum
Effective Date: January 19, 2026
This AI Addendum ("Addendum") supplements your Terms of Service or other agreement ("Terms") with Lantern Software, Inc. ("Lantern"). By accepting this Addendum, providing Input to any AI Features, or using any AI Features, you agree to be bound by this Addendum.
Except as set forth below, the AI Features are considered part of the "Service" under the Terms and all other terms and conditions of the Terms are incorporated by reference and will remain in full force and effect. If any term of this Addendum conflicts with the Terms, this Addendum controls with respect to the AI Features, Input, and Output. This Addendum supersedes all other understandings regarding the AI Features.
IF YOU ARE ENTERING INTO THIS ADDENDUM ON BEHALF OF A COMPANY OR OTHER LEGAL ENTITY, YOU REPRESENT THAT YOU HAVE THE LEGAL AUTHORITY TO BIND THE ENTITY TO THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE SUCH AUTHORITY, OR IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THIS ADDENDUM, YOU MAY NOT USE LANTERN'S AI FEATURES.
1. AI Features & Controls
1.1 What AI Features Are
Lantern's AI Features use artificial intelligence to enhance the Service, including:
- Guide generation from recordings (turning screen recordings into structured step-by-step documentation)
- Video-to-Guide generation (turning uploaded videos into structured documentation)
- Metadata extraction for AI support tools (e.g., categories, tags, key actions, domain objects)
- AI-assisted editing (rewrites, expansions, summarization, and formatting)
- Scenario and collection generation (suggested documentation plans and organization)
Lantern may introduce additional AI Features from time to time.
1.2 Availability & Access
AI Features may be enabled by plan, workspace settings, beta programs, or phased rollouts. Workspace administrators may be able to enable or disable certain AI Features for their workspace.
2. How We Use Your Data
2.1 You Own Your Inputs
You retain ownership of all content you submit to AI Features, including recordings, videos, screenshots, text, brand settings, prompts, and other data ("Input Data"). Input Data is considered Content under the Terms.
2.2 We Process Data to Generate Your Outputs
Lantern and our AI service providers process Input Data to provide the AI Features and generate the outputs you request ("Output"). As between you and Lantern, and to the extent permitted by applicable law, you own your Input Data and your Output.
You grant Lantern a limited license to use Input Data and Output as necessary to:
- Provide the AI Features and the Service to your workspace
- Maintain and secure the Service
- Provide support and troubleshoot issues
- Enforce policies and prevent fraud or abuse
- Comply with applicable law
Non-uniqueness of Output. Output may not be unique, and AI Features may generate the same or similar output for other users. You are responsible for evaluating whether your Output is suitable for your intended use and whether it may implicate third-party intellectual property rights.
2.3 No Model Training Using Customer Data
Lantern does not use Customer Input Data from any customer to train Lantern's general-purpose AI models.
In particular, unless you explicitly opt in under separate terms, Input Data from your workspace will not be used to:
- Train AI models used by Lantern or any other Lantern customer
- Improve outputs for other customers
- Provide insights or recommendations to other customers
If Lantern later offers opt-in fine-tuning or training using your data, it will be clearly described at the time of enablement and offered only on an explicit opt-in basis under updated or additional terms.
2.4 AI Data Handling and Model Training Restrictions
Lantern configures AI subprocessors to use privacy-preserving and "no-training" modes where available. Unless Customer expressly approves otherwise in writing, AI subprocessors:
- Process Input Data solely to generate Output for your workspace
- Do not intentionally use Input Data to train or improve their own models
- Retain Input Data only as necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, or comply with contractual or legal requirements, and no longer than reasonably required for those purposes
Lantern may store Input Data and Output within the Service to support product functionality for your workspace (e.g., editing, versioning, publishing, exports); however, such stored data is not used to train models unless explicitly enabled by Customer.
2.5 Optional Workspace Personalization
If enabled, Lantern may use content previously published or stored within your workspace to personalize Output for your workspace (for example, matching your writing style or terminology). Personalization is workspace-scoped.
2.6 Data Deletion
You may request deletion of Input Data and AI-generated Output. Lantern will delete the requested data within a commercially reasonable period, subject to applicable legal, backup, security, or operational constraints.
3. AI Subprocessors
3.1 Third-Party AI Providers
Lantern uses certain third-party infrastructure and model providers ("AI Subprocessors") to deliver the AI Features described in this Addendum. AI Subprocessors process Input Data solely to generate the requested Output for your workspace.
A complete and current list of AI Subprocessors is provided in Appendix A.
3.2 Subprocessor Changes
Lantern may update Appendix A from time to time as necessary to support the AI Features. Continued use of AI Features following such updates constitutes acceptance of the updated list.
If you have questions about an AI Subprocessor, please contact privacy@uselantern.io.
4. Important Limitations
4.1 You Must Review AI Outputs
You are responsible for reviewing all Output before publishing, distributing, or relying on it. AI Output may:
- Contain errors or inaccuracies
- Be incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate
- Require editing, fact-checking, or human review
- Not comply with your specific legal, regulatory, or accessibility requirements
4.2 Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring your use of AI Features and Output complies with:
- Applicable laws and regulations
- Third-party intellectual property rights
- Your internal policies and contractual obligations
4.3 No Warranties on AI Outputs
Without limiting the disclaimers in the Terms, AI Features and Output are provided "as is." Lantern does not warrant that Output will be accurate, complete, error-free, or suitable for your purposes.
4.4 Liability
The limitation of liability provisions in the Terms apply to AI Features, Input Data, and Output.
4.5 Updates to This Addendum
Lantern may update this Addendum from time to time. For material changes that reduce your rights or increase your obligations, Lantern will provide advance notice. Continued use of AI Features after the notice period constitutes acceptance. Lantern may elect to charge a fee for use of AI Features at any time.
You may disable AI Features if you do not agree to material changes.
